Columbia Sportswear, an internationally recognized outdoor brand, counts on companies like Stella Color to solve visual challenges for their in-store retail window campaigns. Columbia needed to create larger than life custom letters and color-branded hanging banners for their yearly sale at their flagship locations. Stella, being an innovative, full service visual imaging company, developed a solution for Columbia that was not only budget and time sensitive, but pioneering.
Normally, within the graphics industry, specific and standardized substrate materials are used to create signage and dimensionalized solutions. Stella took the opportunity to step outside the box and utilize consumer ready, commercially available high-density insulation board (proudly purchased from Home Depot) as an alternative to more expensive, less available foam board to produce the custom characters. The giant letters were then digitally cut with an XY router and painted. Stella was also able to meet the needs of Columbia with direct-to-substrate, double-sided printing of Columbia’s custom blue and sale graphics to the banners. Stella’s solution shortened lead time and costs, providing a successful outcome through invention.
